GENERAL INFORMATION

 

 

TIME AND PLACE

The 20th World Veteran Table Tennis Championships (WVC2020) will take place from June 8th to14th, 2020 in the the Velodrome and the Exhibition Center of Bordeaux, France.

 

ELIGIBILITY

The WVC2020 is open to all interested players aged 40 years and over or who will reach their 40th birthday during the year the event takes place (born 1980 or earlier). This also includes participants who will reach the age of 40 during the course of the months after the event is scheduled (from June until December 2020).

 

EVENT CATEGORIES

The following categories will form part of the championships:

– 40–44 years (born 1980 or before)
– 45–49 years (born 1975 or before)
– 50-54 years (born 1970 or before)
– 55-59 years (born 1965 or before)
– 60-64 years (born 1960 or before)
– 65-69 years (born 1955 or before)
– 70-74 years (born 1950 or before)
– 75-79 years (born 1945 or before)
– 80-84 years (born 1940 or before)
– 85– 89 years (born 1935 or before)
– Over 90 years (born 1930 or before)

Each player has to participate in his own event category. Exceptions will be made for doubles pairs, where players do not belong to the same event category. In such cases, the pair will participate in the event category of the youngest player.

The following competitions will be played in each category:

Women’s and Men’s singles 

Women’s and Men’s doubles

 

PLAYING SYSTEM

Information about the playing system is to be found in the “Rules and Regulations” of the World Veterans Table Tennis Championships. In principle, the rules of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) apply.

 

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

A maximum number of 5 000 players will be allowed to participate in the WVC 2020 to be held in Bordeaux. Registration of players will only take place upon receipt of the full entry fee payment. Adjudication of entry place will be handled on a first come, first served basis. Registrations received above this number will be put on a waiting list, by order of date of entry received.

Vacancies will be filled with names from the waiting list; those moving up will receive an invoice and the entry fee is due immediately. The amount of the entry fee is determined by the date registration is received.

 

ACCREDITATION

Accreditation for participants and their accompanying persons takes place at IFA (desk location to be confirmed):

Saturday, June 6th, 2020 from 15 pm to 20 pm
Sunday, June 7th, 2020 from 9 am to 19 pm
Monday, May 8th, 2020 from 8 am to noon accreditation for doubles

Each participant has to come to accreditation at least 1 hour before their age group starts to confirm his/her sports entry and to collect his/her tournament documents. When collecting the tournament documents the participant has to provide his/her confirmation of participation containing the individual personal registration number. All participants who have not received their accreditation according to above mentioned time table will be cancelled and cannot play in the tournament.

Players who have registered through a group will receive their accreditation only through the group leader, not individually.

The accreditation of accompanying persons only takes place together with the accreditation of the participant entered for the tournament.

All players are requested to come to the accreditation centre as early as possible.

 

ACCREDITATION PASS

The accreditation pass authorizes the access to all venues. Each participant has to carry visibly at all time on site and in the venue his/her personal accreditation and present it upon demand by security personnel.

Abuse of personal accreditation passes (giving it to third parties) will lead to withdrawal of the accreditation pass (i.e. there will be no further access to the venue possible).

The loss of the accreditation pass will be charged with a fee of 10 €.

 

INFORMATION DESK

At the information desk you can obtain information regarding sightseeing in and around Bordeaux. If you have questions about transport the information desk will be ready to help you. Questions concerning your hotel booking will be answered by the hotel itself.

The information desk will be open from June 7 to 13, excepth June 10, from 9 am to 6 pm.

A dedicated part of the Information Desk will handle tournament matters.

 

VISA REQUESTS

The WVC2020 team is prepared to assist event participants and guests in securing proper visas in order to participate in the Championships. To request an invitation letter, please use the specific page, with description of the name, first name, Passport Number, Passport Issuance Date, Passport Expiry and Citizenship. It is strongly recommended that participants and guests begin the visa process as soon as possible

 

CANCELLATIONS

In principle, cancellation of entry is possible at any point without giving reasons. You have the right to cancel your order within 14 days after the date of the invoice your registration without any cancellation fee. After 14 days the following cancellation fees will apply:

Before 15 september 2019: no cancellation fee.
From 16 september to 31 December 2019, the cancellation fee will be 50%.
After 31 December 2019, the cancellation fee will be 100%.

To cancel a registration, you must send your surname, first name, invoice number and your bank details by email to contact@wvc2020.com.

 

CENTRE COURT/ACCESS

Due to the high number of tables, only players who have to play are allowed to go into the centre court areas.

 

PLAYER NUMBERS

It is mandatory for all participants to wear their player number (inclusive of the advertising printed thereon) made available by the organizers. Number and advertising must be clearly visible.

 

CHANGING FACILITIES

Changing rooms for players are located on the S2 gymnasium, closed to the Velodrome. We suggest all participants get changed into their playing outfits before coming to the venue. Please do not leave any valuables in the changing rooms. The organizers are not responsible or liable for loss or theft.

 

FIRST AID/MEDICAL DUTY

First aid personnel will be permanently in the first aid room throughout event.

 

PARKING SPACES

Parking will be available in the Exhibition Center, in front of the Velodrome et the Exhibition Center Hall.

Parking fees are 60 € for the total duration of the WVC, or 10 € per day.

 

PRACTICE

Training is possible on the table of the S2 gymnasium, from Saturday, June 6th to Sunday June 14th. 

Training is also possible on the table of the Exhibition Center, from Sunday, June 7th to Friday, June 12th. 

Practice facilities will be closed for Opening ceremony.

 

SECURITY SERVICES

Security service officers will be present throughout the event. They have been given the task of supervise access control. Orders given by security officers must be followed. Please carry your accreditation passes at all times.

 

ILLNESS / ACCIDENT

To compete, participating players of the 2020 WVC are responsible for their physical and mental fitness. It is recommended that a routine check-up ahead of the WVC should be carried out by a doctor.

The Organizing Committee does not provide health insurance for participants. Any costs for medication, bandages or other medical services will not be born by the Organizing Committee. First aid/medical duty personnel will be available at the Velodrome during the competition.

 

LIABILITY / INSURANCE

The Organizing Committee cannot accept liability in case of accidents, injuries, thefts or damages of any kind.

The Organizing Committee does not provide health insurance for participants. Each participant has to take care for his/her health insurance and to bear the relevant costs.

Costs incurred by foreign participants for late departure or non¬departure from Las Vegas due to illness will be at each participant’s expense. The Organizing Committee shall not be liable in this respect and will carry no insurance to cover events as such.
